i recently visited a spa called nadalama jamu spa and bar.

i dont really know how to elaborate on the massage itself as i dont frequent massage parlours.

but dude! the place.is.awesome

its about 10 minutes away from the curve but feels like 1000 miles away.

even my indonesian friend commented on a photo i uploaded on facebook to ask if the photo was taken in indonesia.

the place has a very kampung feel and is surrounded by lush greenery.

they also serve my fav indonesian fare. and i love me my indonesian food.

i love it i love it! i would go back again and again just for the ambiance and food actually. it really feels like im nowhere near the city.

and if you try nothing else, order the gado2. best.

oh wow, my birthday is coming up!

today at singing practice, there was no singing.
instead, an american jazz pianist was invited to teach us,
about the basics of the alexander technique
which had nothing to do with music
well, i guess it does..
he called it 'learning how to live'.
alexander technique is about learning how to consciously alter your way of being and get out of our faulty habitual something something so that you're less tensed and use your body more efficiently,.
and this will eventually lead to...... better voice projection . amongst other things of course.
its about learning to let go.... consciously

last night i went for Tompi's performance at Alexis ampang and boy was he AWESOME.

i shouted out 'balonku!' when he asked for requests and he actually performed it!

gotta the awesomest indonesian nursery rhyme EVER!

his VOICE is flawless! and his runs and scats, i dont know how he makes them sound so ..rehearsed when they're kinda not. well maybe he's done them many many times. but they still shock me .

the last time i watched him perform, i was standing in the rain, at an open field and even then i thought he was amazing.

now imagine listening to him at an enclosed place with semi-good acoustics. WOW WOW.

last monday i found out that YKLS (the young kl singers) which i am now apart of, will be going for the world singing olympics (china hosting this year) in july. yes im going.

today we had a jazz basics workshop with az samad. learned some basic south indian rhythmic solfege, had a session on swing and brazilian rhythms. sang some 7th chords in solfege.
(yes i did all this after work)

next monday (we'll see)

and the following monday is a HOLIDAY!

im sorry ive been away for so long.
my mind is slowly trying to get used to this whole working thing. and how this is not temporary but forever. or at least till i have enough to live off interest.
that said, i am kind of enjoying the pace.
work hard, party harder.

having spent most of my years in KL, i daresay i am surrounded by a concrete jungle.
im not complaining, we enjoy the luxuries of life that comes along with it. the technology, the comfort, the hustle and (good) bustle of city life.
but once in awhile, you have to go back to nature
because we're only human.

my tick number 2 was a waterfall hiking trip at FRIM (forest research institute of malaysia ). yeah you remember that place from primary school dont you?
well i dont know why we almost never make use of the fact we have a 130 million year old rainforest a mere 30 minute drive away

would you look at that.
tell me this does not spell peace and beauty.

the plan was to go on the canopy walk and then to the waterfall. there was of course a short cut straight to the waterfalls (no chance!), but obviously we took the long route and hiked up to the canopy walk and down the stony waterfall trek.

the hike up was pretty rough on me that day as my legs were still hurting from rpm and combat the day before.
but i am a child of nature so i did okay!

however i did literally jump for joy when i finally saw this!

even mars was relieved!

oh yeah, i forgot to mention that i went with mars didnt i? hahaha.

the canopy walk was. AMAZING!.
so high up.
im pretty sure even tarzan cant swing this high up!

such tall trees! the rainforest was pretty dense too . it was amazing! omg i wanna go again tmrw!

sad to say though, we (unintentionally -yeah right-) brough a little pinch ( or a whole paperbag) of civilization along with us to the treetops.

HAHA.

after admiring the views, we descended down through the waterfall trek!
which surprisingly did not have a clear footpath whatsoever!

the only thing guiding us were these pipes that kinda showed up at random intervals.
the lady at the counter where u get your maps told us to just "follow the pipes"
we sure did, bi-yatch! we had to go under it, climb over it, slide along it , avoid large roots, climb over boulders and jump into pools of muddy water as well.
gee lady, really appreciate the warning !

i was on my way to the gym when i got a call from tita telling me she had extra tickets for the 'this is it' premier yesterday. being an mj super fan i obviously doubled back to get a change of clothes so that i could shoot off straight to cineleisure after only an hours session with leo.

of course, me being smart with routes and all ended up getting stuck in a jam and only arrived there 3 minutes into the movie!.(or documentary, whatever u wanna call it). apparently they had an impersonator before the movie and lucky draws (tita won a 'dangerous' cd). damnit.

but thats alright, i was there to watch 'this is it'.
the moment they showed a footage of him rehearsing onstage, the sadness hit me all over again.
i was in glastonbury when i found out mj had passed on. and it was hard being sad by myself as i was surrounded by people who could only make jokes about MJ not being a real person anyways, hence it did not matter if he died.
i did not have anybody to share my sadness with then. (which was why i called you alyaa).

they were dead wrong. the world lost a legend.
i dont think anyone comes close to the genius that was michael.
watching the sets and dances he had coreographed for the tour, no one can deny that michael still had it in him.
the tour wouldve been MINDBLOWING.
the 'movie' wasnt pretentious, it did not try to play with the audiences emotions by making it sad, or highlighting what a big loss it is to the entertainment world.
instead, it told of how hard michael had been working, how awesome the whole creative direction of the tour was.
'this is it' showcased those few songs michael thought his fans would want to hear.
the attention to detail paid on every song is nothing short of AMAZING.
michael had gone BEYOND all of our expectations.
may his legendary music and art live on.

the past 2 weeks have been quite a blur. im slowly starting to accept that its in fact true what ive been told; this is where my life begins.
now is the time i start building myself. i have a vision of what i want to be in the future, and this is the beginning of that, this is where i set my foundation and ill be damned if i dont make it a strong and stable one.

aside from attending learning sessions with the new executive programme (BNMNEP), we were also told to submit one learning journal entry per week.
my first week in the programme was spent in langkawi where we had our team building session.
i just thought id share with you guys the journal i submitted.

im special!

the first week of the onboarding module was quite a load to digest. from the very bottom of my heart, i truly believe that i have learned more about myself in one week than i ever have in the entire 22 years of my life (minus of course those first few carefree years we all long to go back to)

before we left for langkawi the word 'teambuilding' felt somehow very shallow to me. what i had in mind were useless and time consuming activities that would make us look and feel like school kids. it was like going back to my primary 6 tunas puteri school camp. boy was i waaaay off.

the very first thing tucker(our coach) asked us to do was to inform the whole group of a certain special trait, ability or skill that we had. as everyone stepped up to say something it was as if a light had been turned on in each and everyone of us (im not trying to be cheesy). what i saw in everyones eyes were "hey!! im special! we're ALL special!" it was overwhelming to see everyone step up to proudly and loudly proclaim why they thought they were special. sure, we all acted as if we were hesitant to do so, but im sure that somewhere below that tough exterior, we all said it with pride, at least i know i did.

more than anything the whole teambuilding programme taught me to believe in myself. i now know that in everyday life, the most important person i have to deal with is myself, and to overcome any challenges that i have to face, i first have to overcome any internal conflicts i have within me. i have now learned the importance of self development and self awareness. i now know that i have to love myself, and by god do i love myself!!

sure, we played fun and silly (on the surface) games. but what was on the surface rather silly were actually brilliant analogies to real life situations we would have to face in our working life (even if it included throwing around squishy balls and running with a balloon in between our legs). i have since learned how and when to trust, how and when to appreciate, when to shut up and listen, and the right situations where i should volunteer my contribution.

whether any of us realized it or not, within that 5 days in the sri kijang resort we lived the i-acted; core shared values which i believe should be applied to our dealings in everyday life aside from just at the workplace.

i believe i have learned alot from this session and have benefitted tremendously. it was 5 days well spent and im sure we can all collectively agree that it was 5 days filled with an awesomely huge bucket load of fun and laughter.

thank you tucker, thank you bnm, thank you new found friends n colleagues.

hey guys, i attended my first day of work today!.
its not really work yet as i will be undergoing the New Executive programme for 2 months.
but after that, i will be at the bank negara HQ for good. so its the real deal from then onwards.

ill be in langkawi for the next 5 days (i know, so much for work) attending some teambuilding thing. im quite happy to be by the sea, regardless of what we will have to do there.

so i guess ill see you in 5 days!

this twisted abandon

even though it may seem like it, i have not abandoned this blog yet. its just that im currently looking for a new laptop as the laptop im using is soooo freakin slow it takes ages for me to load photos and to do justice to my recent escapades (im up to tick number 5!) i need to show u the photos. so bare with me. im pretty indecisive when it comes to buying things i tend to use excessively. (it took me a little over 2 weeks just to look for a new pair of gym shoes, just bought it today. yay) i think i have narrowed it down to the HP tablet/toshiba/fujitsu. no, please dont suggest i buy a mac.

aanyways, i thought i should share this with you guys.

about an hour or so ago i drove back home from jalan damai alone via the smart tunnel. there was something going on in there that made it seem like i was driving through the twilight zone.
it was sort of foggy/misty. i saw some maintenance vans parked by the side of the tunnel but thought nothing of it as there were quite a number of cars driving through the tunnel.
true enough, i made it out fine. but as i exited the smart tunnel the hair on my neck started to stand, it really did not help that i was driving down that sort of lonely road right after the tunnel. well, it wasnt exactly lonely as it was still part of the highway but very poorly lit.
because i was strictly adhering to the 60km/j speed limit i was sort of on my own on the road.
and of course, just like in the movies, it was when i was driving through the darkest part of the road completely alone that i suddenly heard a female voice from somewhere in my car
i could hear the voice very clearly but could not make out what it was saying.
i let it go the first time i heard it but when i heard it the second time i started to freak out n got cold sweat. the voice sounded like it was right beside me.
it continued speaking (still couldnt make out what it was saying) and this was when i realized that the voice sounded kind of muffled.
and thennn, i realized that it was coming from inside my bag, on the passenger seat!
i thought about it for awhile and then started to laugh at myself really loudly, beads of sweat still trickling down my neck despite the aircond being at full blast

i had forgotten to switch off the bloody garmin!!!!!
the freakin machine was saying "menghitung ulang" "mengemudilah, 400 meter ke hadapan dan tetap di sebelah kiri, jalur"
i swear to god it really freaked me out, stupid bloody garmin.

tick number 1 -twice!

as predicted, bukit gasing was indeed tick number 1 off the list albeit it being on the 3rd day of raya instead of the first.

however, what i thought would be an uneventful (but physically exhausting) hike with mom turned into a rescue mission of sorts.
we arrived at the entrance to loud, incessant cackles of the neighbouring house's geese and after investigating found a poor little gooseling on its own on the opposite side of the fence, down in the drain.
of course i immediately picked it up and brought it back up the tiny hill. but this was the nearest i could put it to its 'elders'

everytime i tried to pick it up and shove it thru the fence holes they would hiss and snap at me.
by that time i had already pricked my finger quite badly on a thorn and did not want to get geese bite marks.
mom was quite insistent that we get the poor thing in, by hook or by crook as there were quite a few monkeys around the neighbourhood and leaving it out on its own wouldve been fatal.
lucky for us, a kind man came by and used his backpack to lower the little baby into the compound

after it was safely back in, it was quite obvious that the baby's mom and all its aunties were giving him a loooong lecture on the dangers of venturing into the outside world while telling him exactly which boundary he ought not to cross.

thankfully, we still had enough daylight to enter gasing hill and we were able to do so with a clear conscience.

in the beginning, mom was quite enthusiastic and trudged ahead at quite a steady pace

but after awhile, she decided that it wasnt fun enough to detach herself from her blackberry and went on to bbm, update her facebook status and view photo comments.

however, i certainly enjoyed immersing myself in nature (bugs, mosquitoes n all). it was quite shocking to find a jungle right smack in the middle of pj

of course the jungle got much thicker as we progressed and believe me, much much more hilly.
by the time we got to the hills where we had to literally hold on to branches to climb up, i just didnt bother taking pictures anymore.
after we finished the hike, which by the way took us much longer than necessary *cough* blackberry 'stops' *cough* i promised myself that i would definitely do this again.

and that i did! right the very next morning, in less than 24 hours!
but this time with marisa, her mom and the two little monkeys

although this time we made quite a few rest stops,

we also decided to be alittle bit more adventurous.
aside from hiking till the hanging bridge (which i also did the previous day)

we decided to test its sturdiness by really shaking it up and jumping on it

well actually, the accompanying adult started it, the rest of us just followed suit.

besides that, we also followed the 'anak sungai' trail

some parts of the trail, we had to walk IN the shallow river as it was surrounded by thick jungle and there was nowhere else to walk
the boys i could tell, really enjoyed this part of the trek as they were able to splash around in the water (so easy to make little kids happy)

of course they were in their crocs which they didnt mind soaking at all whilst i wasnt too happy climbing back in soaked training shoes.
but overall, i really liked the 'anak sungai' trail.
however, its not something you would want to do if you were looking for something more physically challenging.
i enjoyed it for the soothing sound of running water, lush greens and general peacefulness of the area. it was a good ' winding down' trail.

will definitely go to bukit gasing again, since its really near my house and all!

if you look a few posts back, i listed a few countries that i promised myself i would visit someday.
well, since im starting work on the 6th of october (u-huh, i already have a date, sigh/glee? dunno) i doubt i will be able to tick any of those places off the list anytime soon.
so i am now going to list a few more accesible places which is easy enough for me to visit within the few days that i have after raya, before i start work.
i doubt that i will make it to all of them, but here's to hoping that i get to most.

go trekking at frim kepong to one of the streams and up through the canopy walk.

climb the 272 steps of batu caves with a supply of peanuts so that i can feed n take pictures with some of its resident monkeys.

go kite flying and cycling at the kepong metropolitan park.

take a hike up bukit gasing (mom said we will do this on raya day, so this will hopefully serve as tick number 1)

visit aquaria klcc and buy something from atlantis

have tea at the carcosa sri negara

have a nice picnic by the waterfalls at sungai tekala recreational forest

take pictures at the lake gardens and its surrounding area (deer park/bird park)

there are few other things i want to do like go white water rafting, fire fly sighting along kuala selangor river, cave exploring and waterfall abseiling at gopeng but lets not get too ambitious

since these two are jobless and on holiday ( and they love me), they WILL come along.
anyone else want in?

i have just recently converted this video and some other similar ones into mp3 format and transferred them into my ipod.

listening to these sounds on loop at night makes for the best sleep ever. that is, aside from the real thing of course. now to look for oil scents that smell like the sea.

a few days ago i dreamt that i gave birth to an ugly baby. i did not dream of the birthing process, but in the dream, when the nurse presented the bundled up little thing to me i somehow knew it was mine and upon looking at it i realized that it was really ugly

i woke up scared wondering what this might mean and looked up similar dreams at various dream interpretation websites. all sites interpreted dreaming of having a baby as the coming of a new 'beginning', a new prospect/project/job.

my first thought was.. SHIT.
whilst dreaming about having a baby might mean a good thing, my dream presented me with an UGLY one.
as some of you may well know, im going to start working soon and it will be my first proper job that should last me at least a few years.
it really worried me that my subconscious mind was telling me that the prospect of it was an ugly one.

reading further i discovered that dreaming about having an ugly baby however meant that i should be wary of someone whom i trust.
i breathed a sigh a relief, the thought of someone breaking my trust seemed to me a much better experience than completely loathing something new coming my way which i would have to face whether i liked it or not (noted that it might not mean my job)

i realized that while somebody close breaking your trust might be devastating to many, it didnt really bother me as much. i am one who absolutely enjoy the company of people and while i may have those few friends whom i believe i can trust with my life, i dont think i have ever really opened up completely to any of them. in fact, i dont think i have opened up completely to anyone. i pride in my ability to keep important, significant, things to myself never having to divulge important secrets to anyone just to 'let it out'. i dont have to keep a diary for that, neither do i have a secret locked blog. i gave it a long thought and concluded that i have not trusted anyone in this world with something so important that the breaking of that trust would effect me greatly.

so i guess for now, all is clear. looking forward to what lies ahead
